Christian advocacy group decries "religicide" in Iraq. According to The Gatestone Institute, what Carl Moeller, president of Open Doors, characterizes as "religicide," continues unabated in Iraq. Christians in cities like Baghdad and Mosul are gripped by terrorism and are fleeing in droves. Ten years ago, the city of Mosul was home to some 75,000 Christians, but now the number has dropped to around 25,000. Christian frequently have their homes set on fire and bombs placed in their cars. Other Christian families are receiving letters threatening them to leave Iraq or be kidnapped or killed.

Hamas and Islamic Jihad fire dozens of rockets and mortars into Israel. According to The Times of Israel, Palestinian terrorists in the Gaza Strip fired more than 30 rockets and mortars into southern Israel early Monday morning, causing damage to a residential building. Most of the shells landed in open areas and there were no injuries reported.

Putin puts Russia on the path to world power. According to World Net Daily, Russia is on its way once again to becoming a world military power, based on promises by President Vladimir Putin and what he is projecting in the way of defense spending over the next six years. Putin wants to "reindustrialize Russia" by rebuilding the defense industry while creating some 25 million new "high-tech jobs" in an effort to transform its military into an "iron fist" against the West.
