Our fasting quote of encouragement today is from Ole Hallesby. He said: "The purpose of fasting is to loosen to some degree the ties which bind us to the world of material things and our surroundings as a whole, in order that we may concentrate all our spiritual powers upon the unseen and eternal things."

Our fasting devotional today is titled "FIVE STEPS TO A SUCCESSFUL DANIEL FAST" (PART 10) from Susan Gregory, author of the bestselling book "The Daniel Fast".

Today, we will continue looking at planning in greater detail: James 1:5 tells us, "If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him."

So call a little meeting with yourself. Take a review of what's going on in your life. This is not a time for condemnation or remorse, but rather a time to take stock of yourself. The Daniel Fast is a perfect time to conduct this self study! Start by clearing your head of thoughts like 'I can't do that' or 'That's a silly thought,' and instead open your heart to the Holy Spirit and to your deepest desires. Then get a notebook or tablet and begin to answer some questions that we will discuss in the next broadcasts.

Now, let's take this time to break up the fallow ground in our lives. Hosea 10:12 states, "Sow to yourselves in righteousness, reap in mercy; break up your fallow ground: for it is time to seek the Lord, till he come and rain righteousness upon you."
