Intelligence warns of attacks against Israeli and U.S. embassies. According to Israel National News, the Egyptian General Intelligence Service warned that a radical jihad group is planning to launch terrorist attacks against the US and Israeli embassies in Cairo. Israel has accused the group, dubbed Global Jihad, of being responsible for the August 5th attack in Sinai against Egyptian border guards which left 16 dead.

Germany says there is a 'great uncertainty' in the world about America's debt. According to CNBC, German Finance Minister Wolf-gang Schaeu-ble (SHO-BLE) questioned how the U.S. could deal with its high levels of government debt after November's presidential election. A weak economy and political gridlock in Washington have prevented meaningful debt reduction in the U.S., which has run budget deficits topping $1 trillion for three straight years. Schaeu-ble said, "there is great uncertainty about the course American politics will take in dealing with the U.S. government's debts, which are much too high."

Leon Panetta says the United States has one year if Iran decides to make a nuclear bomb. According to Reuters, U.S. Defense Secretary Leon Panetta said that if Iran decides to make a nuclear weapon, the United States would have a little more than a year to act to stop it. He said, "We have the forces in place to be able to not only defend ourselves, but to do what we have to do to try to stop them from developing nuclear weapons."
