Our prayer motivator verse from the Word of God today is Matthew 6:6 which reads: "But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly."
Our prayer motivator devotional today is part 25 of our series titled "THE LIMITLESS POSSIBILITIES OF PRAYER" from Dr. John R. Rice.
Dr. Rice tells this interesting story. He says, We had just closed a campaign for trial subscriptions for The Sword of the Lord, the weekly Christian paper I edit. I set a goal of 5000 trial four-month subscriptions. In the office my helpers put this goal in large letters on the wall and daily prayed for it, along with other needed blessings, in the prayer meeting each week-day morning. Five thousand subscriptions was a good many then. My dear daughter Grace was a freshman at Wheaton College and said to me, "Daddy, don't you think we set our goals too high, sometimes, and do not reach them?"
That got on my mind and heart heavily. So in prayer I said to God, "Lord, hear my daughter's question. She is young; she hasn't tried You as often as I. Lord, prove the goal is not too high for You. Strengthen her faith; show her You answer her daddy's prayers!"
I got victory about it and told her so. Praise the Lord! He sent us 5000 trial subscriptions! God gave exactly what we asked for, not one less nor more. My own faith was strengthened, and how happy I was for my dear children to see it.
Big prayers, when answered, stop doubts and glorify God, strengthen Christians and convict sinners.
