Israeli president warns that Iran must not be allowed to control the Middle East. According to Israel National News, President Shimon Peres told U.S. Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta at the Pentagon that the world must not let Iran take control of the Middle East. He said, "I respect the diplomatic process, but the clock is ticking and Iran continues to race towards manufacturing a nuclear weapon while it also continues to lie and deceive. Iran is the only country in the Middle East that has imperialistic desires in the name of religion. No responsible country in the world can accept a situation in which the Middle East will be sacrificed for Iranian hegemony."

The U.S. and Pakistan are starting to look more like enemies. According to the Associated Press, the U.S. and Pakistan are starting to look more like enemies than allies, threatening the U.S. fight against Taliban and al-Qaida militants based in the country and efforts to stabilize neighboring Afghanistan before American troops withdraw. Long plagued by frustration and mistrust, the relationship has plunged to its lowest level since the 9/11 attacks forced the countries into a tight but awkward embrace over a decade ago. The U.S. has lost its patience with Pakistan and has taken the gloves off to make its anger clear.

According to CBN News, thousands of missiles and rockets are aimed at Israel from almost all sides of the country, which means every Israeli citizen must prepare for life on the frontlines. Former head of Israel's home front command, Dr. Chi-lik Sof-fer, stressed the need for water, electricity, and food production to be ready for times of emergency. He said the 2006 war provided the catalyst for developing a multi-lingual, public information campaign. According to Israeli law, every new home or apartment built today must have its own bomb shelter.
