Today, I am going to share with you the importance of taking the Bible seriously.

Another reason many young black women do not take God, the Bible and the Church seriously is because they have become hearers of the Word and not doers. Many, over the years, have become too familiar with the Word of God and thus have begun to take it for granted.

The Bible is a mirror and each time you read it, it shows you your true heart condition. Just as you look into the physical mirror to make sure your hair and clothes are in place, likewise, you ought to look into the mirror of the Word of God to show you your true heart condition. However, many young black women do not want to seriously read God’s Word because they know it will convict them and show them what behaviors and actions they ought to change in their life. Hebrews 4:12 tells us: “For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”

Someone once said, “Sin will keep you away from the Bible, and the Bible will keep you away from sin.”
