    Avoiding the Path of Idleness

    Pastor dkmontgomery

    Date / Time:

    Category: Spirituality

Are you currently on a path leading to idleness? Are you dealing with idle people in your life? Join me for this special message from 2 Thessalonians that deals with avoiding the path to idleness. 6 In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, we command you, brothers, to keep away from every brother who is idle and does not live according to the teaching you received from us. 7 For you yourselves know how you ought to follow our example. We were not idle when we were with you, 8 nor did we eat anyone's food without paying for it. On the contrary, we worked night and day, laboring and toiling so that we would not be a burden to any of you. 9 We did this, not because we do not have the right to such help, but in order to make ourselves a model for you to follow. 10 For even when we were with you, we gave you this rule: "If a man will not work, he shall not eat." 11 We hear that some among you are idle. They are not busy; they are busybodies. 12 Such people we command and urge in the Lord Jesus Christ to settle down and earn the bread they eat. 13 And as for you, brothers, never tire of doing what is right. 14 If anyone does not obey our instruction in this letter, take special note of him. Do not associate with him, in order that he may feel ashamed. 15 Yet do not regard him as an enemy, but warn him as a brother. (2 Thessalonians 3: 6-15 NIV)

What Are You Putting in Your Pot (2 Kings 4 vs 38 to 41)

What are you allowing to be placed in your life? Do you accept everything that comes along? Are you being unknowingly poisoned? Are you willing to put a stop to certain things? Join Pastor Dan Montgomery for this special message from 2 Kings 4: 38-41. 2 Kings 4:38-41 (NIV) 38 Elisha returned to Gilgal and there was a famine in that region. While the company of the prophets was meeting with him, he said to his servant, "Put on the large pot and cook some stew for these men." 39 One of them went out into the fields to gather herbs and found a wild vine. He gathered some of its gourds and filled the fold of his cloak. When he returned, he cut them up into the pot of stew, though no one knew what they were. 40 The stew was poured out for the men, but as they began to eat it, they cried out, "O man of God, there is death in the pot!" And they could not eat it. 41 Elisha said, "Get some flour." He put it into the pot and said, "Serve it to the people to eat." And there was nothing harmful in the pot.

The Day of the Lord (1 Thessalonians 5 verses 1 to 11)

"I don't think, friends, that I need to deal with the question of when all this is going to happen. You know as well as I that the day of the Master's coming can't be posted on our calendars. He won't call ahead and make an appointment any more than a burglar would. About the time everybody's walking around complacently, congratulating each other—"We've sure got it made! Now we can take it easy!"—suddenly everything will fall apart. It's going to come as suddenly and inescapably as birth pangs to a pregnant woman." Do you know what the "Day of the Lord" is all about? Please make plans now to tune in for this continuation of a series in 1 Thessalonians with Pastor Dan Montgomery.
