Sammie Bush is an R&B artist from Miami, Florida who rose to prominence in 2000 with the release of his first album, the RIAA gold-certified From the Bottom to the Top, at the tender age of 13. Thirteen might seem like a surprisingly young age to make a record debut, but anybody who knew Sammie growing up would not be surprised. The precocious, intelligent young artist began singing at age 5 - a talent inherited from his mother, a former professional gospel singer - eventually transferring to Charles Drew Elementary, a notable Dade county magnet school, to seriously study music. At the urging of his Sammie’s supportive music teacher, the young artist successfully auditioned for the television variety program It’s Showtime at the Apollo in 1998, winning a chance to appear live on stage in New York City. His performance caught the attention of talent scout Joyce Irby, who landed the preteen crooner a record deal with producer Dallas Austin’s (Monica, Boyz II Men, TLC) Capitol-distributed label Freeworld Entertainment. Sammie’s partnership with Dallas Austin produced his first record From the Bottom to the Top, with singles "I Like It" and "Crazy Things I Do" garnering respectable airplay early into the new millennium. After the release of From the Bottom to the Top Sammie took time off recording to finish school, eventually graduating from West Orange High School in Winter Garden, Florida in 2005. Wanting to get back into the recording industry, Sammie made a few phone calls to his former mentor Austin, who quickly signed the still-young artist to his recently reactivated Rowdy Records label. The duo teamed up in the studio to release Sammie’s latest album, Sammie, in late 2006. Sammie debuted at a respectable #42 on the Billboard 200 and has produced two hit singles, "You Should Be My Girl" and "Come With Me". To date, Sammie has sold well over 200,000 copies - not too shabby for your average 18 year old.
