Tonight's show is titled,"How to Love Your Possessions." One of the greatest temptations we face is to find meaning, purpose, and ultimate value in manmade things. We call this materialism. While we might think that materialism is a danger only for the very rich, the temptation to value temporary things more highly than eternal things can afflict people regardless of their income level. When it does, we have an opportunity to be wiser than Solomon by investing our energy in acquiring heavenly treasure and cultivating a Christlike attitude toward tangible things. Scripture is from 1 Kings 11:1-6;Matthew 6:19-24. Key verse is Matthew 6:21, "For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also." And the focus of the lesson is Christians should value spiritual health over material wealth.
