Late night Bible Study with Annieb or is it? That's right folks, Annieb fell today and broke her right ankle.SO, CyberPastor will be filling in for her. Tonight's lesson is titled,"Finishing the Race."Paul's farewell sermon given in Acts 20:17-35 wasn't his retirement speech.He had completed 3 grueling, difficult missionary journeys in which he had experienced floggings(at least 5 times he received thirty-nine lashes with a whip), three times beatings with rods, stonings, shipwrecks, and constant danger from rivers,bandits, Gentiles, and false brothers.(See 2 Cor.11:23-28)It would seem that he could honorably retire--after all, he had been instrumental in establishing more than a dozen churches and had preached in many more towns throughout Asia Minor, Macedonia, and Greece.But Paul was in the race to finish, no matter the cost or suffering.In fact, right at this time in his ministry, he wrote his letter to he Romans in which he states, "I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us"(Rom. 8:18).Keep the lesson focus in mind as we look at the Scripture lesson.
