The Internet is a Big Deal, and we all have certain rights and duties if we chose to participate as members of the Internet. It is that simple, if you are a member of the Internet, then you are responsible for your children, and your family's safety online and offline, which begins in understanding what and who you are up against. Consumers can no longer blindly assume they are protected because a commercial tells them they are safe - sorry, that is misleading and simply is not the case.

After many years of research and many notable guests on just what is important to keep our children and their family's safe on and offline. The CyberHood Watch partners, Dave & Bill, have recognized a merging trend in the overall belief of what is necessary to keep families safe on and offline. Families should be aware that although technology and security software plays a vital role in the safety of your family's online activities, it should be remembered it is only one part of the equation.

I wish we could claim some Nobel breakthrough, and be the first to announce it to the world on CHWradio, but the fact is - the other key element in addition to enterprise grade technologies,  is simply good old fashion parenting, and teaching children the lost art of civility.Yes, the technology is new, and a bit out  of control, which makes it more difficult, but not only can you do it, you have to do it - you are the parent.

I heard several bits of wisdom shared by, our guest today, Judy Graybill.  Do not ever underestimate when you will hear something for the first time, and the hearing it said that way, for the first time, turns the sunlight on in a dark room.

Within the first half hour you will understand Judy’s passion, her personal experiences, and her academic whys, which are one of many of her abilities to understand how stepfamilies cope and function.

Only a third of the way into the show and Judy’s talked about:

1.  What is a healthy marriage, and what is not?

2.  How do you deal with arguments?

3.  What I forgot to tell you…What is it?

4.  What is an “Outsider” and what is an “Insider”?

5.  What is one big lie you may be building your life on?

Permit Me To Make A Big Deal HERE… There is something that took place during the show, which I would like to point out. It is something subtle, you may not have noticed, but I caught it, because I happen to be Bill’s partner. We spend a great deal of time together and therefore have our own “insider group”, which is why I probably understood what I witnessed.

Judy said something very profound, at least for Bill, it was, which is why I urge you to listen to Bill’s insight as he shares some of his personal life story. Bill shared this story with me before, but it was not until today, when he shared it with Judy, did he come to realize a significant insight within himself. I consider this one of those moments – When the Teacher Arrives, The Student Will Appear, or I have heard it this way too – When The Student Arrives, The Teacher Will Appear.

Bill shared with our listeners his personal story of his parents divorcing when he was three years old, and moving in with his grandparents. If you have a chance to talk to Bill, and he talks about his “Grandma”, you will know immediately that he never lacked any love from her.

Pay attention now, because this is where Judy wanted to share with our listeners the #1 big deal that is so simple, yet burdens children for a lifetime. It is overlooked by parents and guardians. Those responsible need to verbally communicate with their children, so they understand, this one important message… “It Is Not Your Fault”.

What we learned from Bill, was his parents were deaf, and considering the divorce and the challenges at that, time, Bill, ended up with loving grandparents.

Since the time Bill was three years old, until now, Bill took blame in-part for his parents’ divorce.

Until he heard it for the first time from Judy, “It Is Not Your Fault”, Bill realized it was not his fault.

This is such a wonderful example of one of the key elements Bill and I talk about and hear from our guests’ consistently, “awareness” and “communication”. Our new CyberHood Watch partner, Judy Graybill, is proof a positive message realized, would change lives.

We know, what we do, will touch someone’s life in a positive way.
