The CyberHood Watch Partners, Dave & Bill, invite you to join their friends and families in our CyberHood Watch live radio show, every Tuesday morning at 11:00 am MST... Join Dave & Bill as they discuss the Internet security issues of the day relating to your children, families, homes, PC's and mobile communication devices in our CyberHood Watch new Net-Generation of technology, where we all find ourselves as part of the 21 century.

Show Notes

Over the past 2 years we have had the pleasure of having some of the best and brightest authors in the world join us weekly on The CyberHood Watch Radio Show. Take quick tour and see a few of the many CHW Authors that have been guests on CHWradio.com

Dave and Bill feel a very special responsibility in sharing our guests advice, opinions, insights and experiences. It’s our hope that our guests will inspire our CyberHood Watch audience to become active in their local neighborhoods and participate with and learn from their children on how to use the internet safely.

In this process of learning to use the internet safely, parents will be a focal point in the teaching of their children. In this ever-changing New Net-Generation… called the CyberHood, we all find ourselves in the dawning of a brand new decade, and one that requires us to all be good citizens online as well as offline.

What does it mean to be a Responsible CyberCitizen? Being aware of what information we post about ourselves and others online, how we treat others online, and watching out for others while they are online.

With over two years worth of interviews we have had the pleasure of having over 100 guests on our radio show. To see who our guests have been, see our Cyberhood Alumni page.

Thanks to all the authors that have joined us in the past, we have enjoyed your presence and welcome you back at any time. And to the all authors that want to get their message out to a much wider audience through The CyberHood Watch Network with Dave and Bill.  Please contact us, by filling out the Radio Show Request form to get started.

Have You Been "Webulized"? We All Got A Big Laugh Out Of That Comment.

After 25 years as a security expert in the computer IT industry, Jack shared with our listeners his perspective about the Internet and the New Net-Generation of users, and what is in-store for the future. What I found interesting and very much needed was Jack's home remedy and parenting approach rather than a technical class on security. All you have to do is visit JackBezalel@Linkedin and you'll understand the designations speak for themselves.

I was pleasantly surprised to hear Jack talk about the root of mending the Internet and what it meant to be a "Responsible CyberCitizen"; was education. Bill and I couldn't agree more. Jack is "Your Best IT Friend." If your a small business owner or running your own home Internet business and you want an exact blueprint on how to secure your computers and the personal information you are responsible for, then Jack has the solution built on
    25 years of experience.

At first glance, I thought I wouldn't personally want to go through that learning curve but, then Jack said something that made sense to me. If you own a small business, and you've hired or plan to hire an IT guy to set up your network and protect your customer information, then it makes sense to have a blueprint for your IT to follow. Think of it, in and of itself as security. What do I mean by that? I've heard several business owners tell their story of letting go of their IT for whatever reason and finding out they were in a very difficult situation because they had no idea of what their IT guy had done. It was a nightmare for them. I see this blueprint of 25 years of accumulated knowledge as a great system to follow. The next IT professional, whether he moves on for advancement or not, the following IT professional can pick up where the other  IT left-off. And with Jack's involvement in his membership site he can surely help the new IT. Makes sense to me.

Jack's hobby (sure glad it was a hobby) was helping others with their computer problems after he got home from his professional day job. Where was Jack when I had my PC problems? I know from what Bill and I have seen, several of our professional IT guys we know, that wear the same target Jack wears, have adopted by providing many of their customers a subscription-based managed security service to handle their computers for all the security issues and anything that can be handled through remote access by the IT security technicians providing the personal computer care. This allows the IT technician to devote his/her time to the more complicated issues such as networks and hardware issues.

Something Jack said that you should be aware of, it doesn't matter what programs you run to protect against malware, unless you have the proper updates for your operating systems you will never be secure. Education is Jack's choice of defense against malware and having a safe computer. And that's the house that Jack built and he provides the blueprint for others to duplicate. Know your updates! (14'20")

Jack understand that not everyone will take advantage or want to learn how to manage their computer (17'00") so, he is offering to provide the same automatic tools that he used in managing large corporations in his membership site. Which by the way, With a few clicks of the mouse, provide the same technologies Jack used to protect the larger corporations. We have the same problems as corporate computers have. (17'29" - 18'15")

If you are running a business then Jack's system was developed for you (18'30").

What is a "Responsible CyberCitizen"? (22'59") "It's all about education." You need to understand the risks, issues, basics solutions, if nothing else you need to ask for help to secure your computer, said Jack. Take care of you digital wallet - credit card, know your website.

When I asked about the next Internet services and trends (26'21") that might occur in the next three to five years and the dangers for the New Net-Generation, Jack referred to the book "The World Is Flat" by Thomas L. Friedman. Which sees a merging global community basically no borders or boundaries; a globalization of markets.

Another trend will be the information explosion (27'48") This will take place when new markets in developing countries engage in the Internet. Even if these markets don't buy they will get information and for the Internet Marketers it will drive traffic to their sites.

Jack favors less privacy and more security (29'20"). Jack proposes an "open ID" a single sign-on where you enter your user name and password that would allow you entrance into an approved website and services for this password and user name. The idea is that your privacy is exposed, and so it holds true for the bad guys as well; there is no anonymity.

Think about it... the bad guys are learning fast and helping one another (36'43") and we have to do the same thing. We need to understand security by assisting one another and provide whatever is necessary to share information to advance our cause for a secure Internet. One of the best pieces of security software are parents communicating with their children and becoming involved in their children Internet online activities - not snooping, being genuinely interested.

You wouldn't take your eyes off your kid entering or crossing the street so, you shouldn't take your eyes of them entering the Internet highway.

Maybe as parents we shouldn't worry so much about the time our kids are spending on the Internet and the social networking sites. Maybe there's a silver lining in that cloud (44'20"). If you've given your children instructions on proper Internet etiquette the results can be positive, and communication skills can be enhanced.

Jack touched on the most valuable lesson (48'48") that we have heard repeatedly throughout the majority of our guests, and that is COMMUNICATION with your children. Life and the Internet is now an intrical part of your children's life, don't resist it, learn to adjust and guide them through it.

Jack wrapped the show up with a very poignant message that we should all listen to (1hr.,2 minutes,58 seconds into the show) if you want your kids to be safe online.
