TRUSTe & the Facebook Privacy Debate - The firestorm around privacy and social media has generated more heat than light. Everyone is certain changes need to be made, except for those who don't think changes are necessary because everything in social media is, well, social.

Facebook recently announced yet another round of changes to their privacy policy, developed in consultation with privacy experts including TRUSTe's Fran Maier. Maier, the president of TRUSTe, is widely recognized as an authority on the best practices for online privacy. In addition to advising Facebook on enhancements to its privacy policy, she has testified on privacy before the Federal Trade Commission, the US Department of Commerce and the U.S. House of Representative's Committee on Commerce, Trade and Consumer Protection.

Maier, a highly articulate and telegenic speaker, is available to add light to the Facebook privacy discussion. She is also expert at advising consumers and social media fans on the steps they should take to protect themselves and their identities online.
