The increasing number of adolescents who are “Aging Out” of America’s foster care system have become one of the country's most vulnerable populations. Every year thousands of teens “Age Out” of the system without a connection to reliable adults and ongoing support — putting them at a higher risk for homelessness, criminality, drug abuse, and unemployment. This edition of “On-the-Line” with CWLA features a discussion about the Jim Casey Youth Opportunities Initiative, a groundbreaking collaborative program that provides a continuum of “Safety Net” services to help young people who are “Aging Out” out of foster care become healthy, productive and financially self-sufficient adults.
