Experts estimate that 42 to 60 percent of the children in foster care have emotional and behavioral problems due to the traumatic circumstances that led to their placement in care. Yet, many of the children and youth in foster care are not receiving the mental health services they need to strengthen their emotional well-being, reduce the risk of frequent placements and ultimately achieve better outcomes in life. This edition of “On-the-Line” with CWLA features a discussion about a promising new model of agency-based mental health services that are designed to significantly improve the access to mental health services for children in foster care.
