Charlotte, NC is one of the Top 10 cities in the nation for human trafficking. This human atrocity is one of the world's most profitable and fastest growing criminal enterprises. It is estimated that an average of 16,000 individuals are trafficked across US borders each year and nearly 25% of these victims end up in the Southeast, including North Carolina.

Young girls in the US are usually recruited into commercial sex trafficking between the ages of 12-14 years old. The vast majority of sex trafficking victims, 70-90 percent, were sexually abused prior to being trafficked. Men are the most overlooked victims of sex trafficking. With only 2% rate Male survivors of sex trafficking are the silent victims of an already hidden crime. In early 2012, President Obama declared January, National Slavery and Human Trafficking Prevention Month.
