London, Ontario – Everyone in our culture is stressed. Fundamentally, everyone is manifesting with some form of anxiety, chronic pain, physical exhaustion, and burnout. It’s become endemic to our culture. Though our minds may have turned against us, it’s important to remember our hearts and souls matter, too.
Gillian Vellet is a registered art psychotherapist and massage therapist. She combines a unique, organic, creative learning, and body-centered approach in separate sessions to heal painful experiences and blocked energy stored in the body. Together these two modalities help you integrate body, mind, spirit and soul.
“This is soul work and soul work really demands rigor,” says Gillian. “It demands incredible compassion and empathy. You have to attune energetically, emotionally, psychologically and spiritually with the energy frequency in your client and what they are wanting to heal at a heart and soul level.”
According to Gillian, art and massage both activate the parasympathetic nervous system, the site of rest, repair and peace. The combination of these two distinct yet interdependent modalities encourages constructive creative change by promoting self-care, self-regulation, empathy, and resiliency.
“I advocate going to the root, core, and origin of the anxiety in a person’s nervous system,” says Gillian. “When you get back in touch with the interconnection between your body, mind, spirit, and soul you become more ready, willing, and able to participate in self-care, self-love and self-regulation. You become aligned with your higher self or your creator source that desires harmony, fluidity, ease, peace, and grace. When you can achieve this, life and relationships are no longer an effort.”
