The Word tells us, and most have discovered, that this possession and enjoyment of God's love within us has a profound transforming effect. Here we touch upon the greatest wonder in our fruition in Christ. Those who dwell together in the holy companionship of Divine love, grow like unto each other. There is a mystic assimilative influence in all the spiritual intimacies of life. But here, in the depths of His love, the mystery is deepest because it plays between God and man. You see, it works in both directions, as is the fundamental nature of love: for it has caused God's gift of Himself to us to assume even the form of the incarnation in which He became flesh of our flesh; bone of our bones; that He might become Redeemer, the Giver of Life. So too, in the opposite direction, it makes us partakers of the divine nature, putting within our hearts, God's image and superscription. This is so much more than the simple fusing of two entities; it is the complete interpenetration of the two conscious lives of God and man, each holding the other in the close embrace of perfect sympathy.
