Human trafficking is a serious issue in the United States and from big cities to small, rural communities, it is growing.

According to a report by the Polaris Project on the National Human Trafficking Resource Center hotline, 41 percent of sex trafficking cases and 20 percent of labor trafficking cases referenced U.S. citizens as victims. In 2013, Florida ranked third in the nation in number of calls received by the NHTRC.

Learn more about this issue as Columbia Southern University presents CSU Talk Radio online at 6 p.m. July 22 featuring CSU faculty member Barry Goodson and guest host Independent News publisher Rick Outzen.

The pair will talk about the prevalence of human trafficking and importance of raising awareness of it throughout the nation. The call-in show will welcome questions and commentary.

Goodson, a criminal justice professor at CSU, is a military veteran and former member of the CAC Investigation Task Force, which handles human trafficking cases. He possesses a diverse background in law enforcement and its instruction spanning approximately 14 years.  Outzen has written several articles on human trafficking in Northwest Florida and is a former radio host.
