Dental hygienists are licensed oral health professionals. Their focus is on preventing and treating oral diseases for the protection of total body health. Each state has its own specific regulations and the range of services performed by dental hygienists varies from one state to another. Today Shirley Gutkowski, Host of Cross Link Radio, speaks with Julie DiNardo who can own her own Dental Hygiene business in Canada.
For the past 29 years, Julie DiNardo has practiced the profession of dental hygiene. In 2009, Gleam Smile Centre, an independent dental hygiene office, opened its doors to provide accessible care to the communities of Southern Ontario. Julie is a member of the Canadian, Ontario, and Hamilton Dental Hygiene Associations, OMG Periodontal Study Club, Independent Dental Hygiene Study Group and is a founding member of the American Academy of Oral Systemic Health. Julie sits on the board of directors for the Business Executives Organization in Hamilton, Ontario and has been on various committees throughout the years involving the Ministry of Health for a smoke free Ontario and advisory positions for medical devices.
Julie has been a presenter for many years speaking on topics such as oral health, oral cancer and independent practice. Julie has organized dental hygiene symposiums as well as many continuing education seminars throughout Southern Ontario. As a firm believer of early detection and prevention, Julie provides oral cancer awareness days in her office and works collaboratively with the local cancer treatment center. Julie is the founder of a non-profit charity called Woolies for New B's which provides necessary essentials for the less fortunate and their babies. The charity has provided for citizens in need throughout Canada.
