Ever feel down in the dumps, turn on some music and find your spirit soar?  What is it about music that gets so deep into our mind that it can change our mood or affect your outlook on life?  Our guest Dr. Ken Aigen is a music therapist whose clinical specialities include work with children and adolescents with emotional and developmental delays and adults in mental health.  His research uses musicological analyses to reveal connections between the elements of music and common cogitive, emotional and physical goals.  Dr. Aigen says, "Music can be a medium for the restoration of lost abilities, a vehicle for personal development, and a unique support in the most challenging of life circumstances."

Shirley Gutkowski will find out about the areas and types of music therapy practice, types of music therapists, who can use the label and music and wellness.

Dr. Aigen is a distinguished professer at NYU, and author, past president of the American Association for Music Therapy, recipient of the Research and Publications Award from the American Music Therapy Association and he was on the sciientific committee chairman for the Ninth World Congress of Music Therapy.
