Russel has been a professional Musician/Solo Artist/Educator for over 3 decades. he has performed/toured/ recorded includes five years as the exclusive Bassist for Jazz Great Sonny Rollins, Pharoah Sanders, Hugh Masekela, Chaka Kahn, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Wynton Marsalis, and Melba Moore to name a few. He also performed on Broadway as a bassist in the The Lion King and Dreamgirls.

Alex Blake, Jr is one of the most preeminent Bassists in the world today. In addition to his expansive resume of performances/tours/recordings with the greatest names in music, including and not limited to: Dizzy Gillespie, Freddie Hubbard, McCoy Tyner, Betty Carter, Nancy Wilson, Manhattan Transfer, Stan Getz, Jimmy Buffet, Billy Cobham, Harry Belafonte, Sonny Rollins, Earl Klugh, and so many more.

Rounding things up is the patriarch of this legendary family, jazz trombonist Alexander Blake, Sr.
