    Date / Time:

    EFA Artists Helping Animals weeks of 10/13/08 & 10/19/08

    For the week of 10/19/08

    The featured musical artist was chief Jim Billie  from the Seminole tribe at;
    http://www.seminoletribe.com/trail/Day/index.shtml

    Our highlighted EFA member was KoboH (which means a crafters' or artists'  atelier or studio in Japanese. Hiromi, the shops owner and artist does felted work and other creations from recycled fabrics and yarns, as well as alpaca and sheep fibers which she buys from local farms. She uses sustainable materials as much as possible.

    Hiromi moved to North Bend, Washington, a beautiful little town in the Snoqualmie Valley, in 1999, but she was born and raised in Japan, in the Mt. Fugii area. Before coming to the states, Hiromi learned about crafting from her Mother and Grandmother. Although she has been sewing and creating in various medians all of her life, she began felting just a few years ago. Her bowls and other items are so lovely, you would never know that she just taught herself this art form! You can check out her beautiful handiwork at http://koboh.etsy.com

    Certainly the products in the KoboH shop are awesome, but one of the things we like the best is the fact that She donates a portion of her shop sales to the Snow Leopard Trust in Seattle, Washington, which protects the endangered Snow Leopard,  and the community where the cats lives. She also donates to the Rolling Dog Ranch Animal Sanctuary in Montana, which rescues and shelters disabled animals. Additionally, she donates to Kiva, the world's first micro-lending platform which helps entrepreneurs in the developing world.
