(646) 478-4308.

Is Black Pride/Power Relevant? (Epi. 15)

In a society where legalized segregation has been outlawed and integration sometimes mandated by law, does "black pride" and "black power" still have a place in 2010? Can one be proud of their heritage without being ashamed or jeopardizing their "standing" as an American? Does the election of Pres. Obama signal a shift of the tides?

Dr. Lathardus Goggins, II, Ed. D., an assistant professor of educational leadership at the University of North Carolina-Wilmington, joins us to discuss whether or not "black pride" is still relevant in the 2010s. Is Terrestrial Radio Dead? (Epi. 14)

With a myriad of entertainment choices for the American consumer, has the ubiquitous radio outlived its usefulness? From media consolidation to the death of the true "disc jockey," a souring economy, an economic base tied to advertising, and greater competition has made many a radio station owner shudder in wonder. Is there light at the end of the tunnel?

KJTZ-FM's Pete Garcia will be joining us. We will be discussing terrestrial radio, the challenges of running a radio station, and the future of radio. Pete will also discuss his experience in voiceover artistry and show what it takes to make and maintain a "radio voice." We also will be discussing the week's newsmakers and current events.
