Image Hosting by PictureTrail.com Join us for a special Valentine's Day "Cool Jazz Conversations!" Nils Jiptner wrote the popular tutorial, "How to Make Your Guitar Talk." This German-born master picker has been doing just that since his teens. When he moved to L.A. in the mid-80's, that talking guitar got new legs. Nils got a position at the legendary Valley Arts Music Store - as a teacher. Word on the street grew that this cat was the real deal...composing, a...rranging, and producing at his secluded home studio, there was nothing that Nils couldn't do. Ask George Benson, who worked with him in the 90's. Or the Temptations, whose 1998 "Phoenix Rising" went platinum - thanks in part to the contributions of Nils. "Pacific Coast Highway" - in 2005 - was huge in the Smooth Jazz world. # 1 for 7 weeks, the title track was a whole 'nother story. The Nielson Company's broadcast data subsidiary reports that it got the most spins of any SJ track over ten years - more than 30,000! But we know that there is more to Nils than one label. His film and TV credits include production for the film, "Beyond the Ring" - music editing for the hit show, "Weeds" - music scoring for the Independent Spirit Awards - and more. He also fuels his passion for European Electronica with his alter ego, String Theory. "What the Funk" is the fourth Jazz-oriented project for Nils that also explores his love of R & B and Rock - flavors to create one potently energized Jazz-infused stew :) Join us on Monday, February 14th, for a sweet Valentine's day CJC"
