Receiving a diagnosis of diabetes can be scary and leave you feeling alone.  This was the case for today's guest Cherise Shockley, CEO and founder of Diabetes Community Advocacy Foundation.

Cherise was diagnosed at the age of 23 with LADA (Latent Autoimmune Diabetes of Adults) as a newlywed while her husband was stationed in Iraq.  Knowing no one with diabetes she took to the internet for answers, however there was not much information to be found about LADA,  A few years after diagnosis she became insulin dependent and came across tudiabetes.org and realized she wasn't alone and began blogging.

Cherise soon created DSMA with a weekly twitter chat to bring the diabetes online community together to talk openly about all things diabetes.

Join me in conversation with Cherise as we learn more about the Diabetes Online Community, LADA and initiatives such as Blue Friday's.
