The teen years are tough.  The teen years with diabetes onboard can be a diabolical roller coaster ride.  As a parent of a newly diagnosed teen with diabetes that roller coaster ride can be one in which you are holding on by your fingertips and praying for an answer.

Today I am joined in Conversation by Moira McCarthy author of Raising Teens with Diabetes: A Survival Guide for Parents.  When I watched Moira during a recent video chat on Tu Diabetes I sat in my living room and cried.  These were tears of relief and enlightenment.  Finally another parent understood the turmoil that I had been going through.

In her book, Moira addresses the emotional ups and downs that a family can endure during the teen years including the effect of hormones, mood swings, growth spurts and the ever changing blood sugars.  Moira manages to delve into subjects such as driving, dating and drinking with humor and honesty.

Join me as I talk candidly with Moira about not only her experience through diabetes and the teen years but how parents and children can come out safe and happy on the other side of the teen years.
