    Actor Bill Cobbs

    in Entertainment

Character actor Bill Cobbs began his acting career relatively late in life after working odd jobs in Cleveland, OH. At the age of 36, he moved to New York and joined the Negro Ensemble Company, making his Broadway debut in First Breeze of Summer. His film career started in the late '70s with small film roles and guest appearances on television. In the early '80s, he worked on several performances for the NBC Live Theatre series and a PBS anthology with Ossie Davis and Ruby Dee. Usually cast as the token old black man dispensing words of wisdom, Cobbs' weathered-yet-honest looks got him several guest spots on TV shows from Good Times to The West Wing. He did end up with a few reoccurring roles on sitcoms like The Slap Maxwell Story, The Gregory Hines Show, and The Michael Richards Show. He even had a part in The Others, the NBC sci-fi drama answer to The X-Files. Perhaps his most memorable television appearance is his role as Regina Taylor's father on I'll Fly Away as well as in the TV movie version I'll Fly Away: Then and Now. Throughout his film career, he has built a long list of credits playing kindly fathers, grandfathers, and even Moses (in The Hudsucker Proxy). He was Whitney Houston's manager in The Bodyguard, an old man in New Jack City, and Grandpa Booker in The People Under the Stairs. Though he appears in nearly all genres of Hollywood films, he occasionally gets meatier roles in made-for-TV dramas like Carolina Skeletons, Nightjohn, and Always Outnumbered. In 2002, he played wisened elders in Sunshine State, Enough, and Sweet Deadly Dreams. Most recently Bill played in "Duck 2007, The Ultimate Gift 2007 ,Night at the Museum 2006 -Reginald Actor Film
    Sunshine State 2002.

    The Biking Vogels

    in Current Events

Davy and Daryl Vogel, ten-year-old twin brothers from Boise, Idaho, pedaled away from Prudhoe Bay, Alaska in June 2008 with their parents. In approximately two and a half years, they plan to arrive at the southern tip of South America, where the brothers will become the new Guinness World Record holders as the youngest people to cycle the Pan-American Highway.

The Vogel family is no stranger to long-distance bicycle touring. In June 2007, they arrived home to Idaho after spending twelve months pedaling 9300 miles through nineteen US states and four Mexican states. Parents John Vogel and Nancy Sathre-Vogel have pedaled an estimated 200,000 miles through sixteen countries in the past thirty years.

Davy and Daryl will spend their fifth, sixth, and seventh grade years being homeschooled by their mom and dad, who are both long-time teachers.

The family is using their educational background to bring the world to under-privileged children in New York City through Reach the World (RTW). Reach the World is an educational non-profit organization with the mission of linking students in under-funded schools to online, global expeditions . These expeditions have the power to expand learning beyond the four walls of the classroom. The cyclists will be linked to classrooms via RTW's interactive website and live Internet chats.

RNR Aftershocks - Lightning Destroys Jesus Statue

    in Current Events

I'm finding that there's a "quickening" underway, and I've written so much, produced so many podcasts, all in an attempt to produce some fruit for the Lord and to stay on top of things. However, what invariably happens is that many people get overwhelmed (myself included!) by the sheer volume of it all and end up missing some important truth. So, this is for us. This is a new feature of Right Now Radio. We have the regularly scheduled Friday night broadcasts, the "Special Reports", and now the "RNR Aftershocks". Simply put, these will be no more than 15-30 minute sound bytes regarding Breaking News and/or my brief commentary on what's going on in the world today and why we should pay attention given what God's Word has to say. I pray that this type of feature and format will help me bring you some important news that I couldn't get to in the Friday night show. I pray that it's short enough to allow you to use it in your witnessing efforts with family and friends who are more inclined to devote 15-30 minutes listening than a full 2 hours. In the end, I'll leave it in God's hands (Proverbs 16:9).

Gilli Moon, Hollywood based Australian artist, will join us this week as our special guest!

    in Women

gilli moon is a Hollywood based Australian artist, who delivers conscious music, art and a brave sense of self-expression in her energetic, sensual and expressive performances and recordings.

gilli (pronounced as with a "J") is an illustrious poly-media artist, with multifaceted albums and dynamic live shows that have touched music lovers worldwide garnering high praise from the most jaded of critics. She is the quintessential renaissance woman, with a ceaseless contribution to the creative and artist communities at large. She creates music that is fresh, rebellious, passionate and unique. ITunes has been unable to classify her. She stands alone.

Her restless creativity and rebellious nature continually urge the artist to push the envelope when writing a song, recording in the studio, on stage, painting a canvas, or with whatever she touches.

Born in Milano Italy, and raised in Australia, gilli moon was brought up in a pioneering lifestyle on an isolated mountain property on the edge of wilderness. Her artistry is inspired by the isolating “Aussie bush" living a self-sufficient, alternative and pioneering life in a home built by her parents from the trees and stone on their land, solar power and natural resources.

Now living in Los Angeles, CA for the last 10 years, Gilli is forging an independent path before anyone knew what "indie" was. Through her own record label, Warrior Girl Music, gilli took on the music industry on her own terms and successfully produced and released 6 studio music albums, to critical acclaim, launched several artists' careers, placed an abundance of songs in film, TV and with other artists, and has performed around the world many times over. She has traversed the "wilderness" of the Indie world, where only the brave dare to go, and has conquered with unparalleled drive.
