On today’s show, religion, morality and the conservative position with regard to personal principals and its effect on personal politics. I have mentioned many times that “Republicanism is Liberty balanced with responsibility and guided by morality.” It is the “morality” that I wish to discuss today. From where is that derived? Religion is the answer. Even if your religion is (very) different from mine, as long as you require your principals be derived from your faith and demand of yourself that your politics conform to your principals, rather than allow your politics to dictate your principals, then you are a conservative and someone I can respect. Recently, during show #0155 2010 I discussed an article about Professor Stephen Hawking’s recent book that, among other things, articulates the irrelevance of God in the creation of universe. I, at the time, disagreed with Professor Hawking. Today, I read an article from Tom Jones, Ph.D., former astronaut and contributor to HeadlineBistro.com who addressed this same issue. Jones’ essay points out that even Hawking’s arguments require “faith” and; therefore, “faith in God” cannot be eliminated. I argue that in Hawking’s arguments, that gravity is all that is required to explain the universe or multiverses, he sees only the mathematics of the universe but none of its beauty or elegance that is so immeasurable and enumerable that it must be the handiwork of God. I discuss the last segment the importance of the Pro-Life agenda. Clergy meet to discuss issues related their congregations and how to encourage further adherence to fundamental moral principals as a means for dealing with the issues that face the family and the family of citizens.
