bully: a blustering browbeating person; one habitually cruel to others who are weaker.

So many of us hear the word bully and think of the image described above—the proverbial asshole in the schoolyard who picks on the smaller kids and steals their lunch money. But the act of bullying itself isn’t always so blatant, or even easy to point out.

Have you ever had that friend who harshly judges and gossips about everyone she knows—even people she appears to be close to? Guess what. That bitch is a bully. Or how about the partner who takes their bad day out on you, dragging you down with them? Bully. The boss whose power trip has you feeling like a sizzling ant beneath a magnifying glass…you get the point.

Many of us are not only surrounded by, but are intimately connected to people who are willing to diminish others in order to gratify their state of unhappiness. No matter the magnitude, bullying is powerful and toxic.

Well we’re tackling bullies this week on Confabulous, y’all. Our in-house life coach, Pati Root of Root Dynamics, is here to help us identify the bullies in our lives and how to deal with them—particularly the ones we’re stuck with!

Bring it in, everybody…let’s hug this out.
