Powerful As God,The Children's Aid Societies of Ontario is a documentary film that delves into society's most controversial and secretive topics. The film navigates truth by coordinating twenty-six witnesses into conversation with each other. The film incorporates diverse experiences from people whose lives were tragically affected by the agency's actions with professionals who have worked directly with the Children's Aid, such as doctors, social workers and lawyers. Financed by the public and wielding extraordinary power, the complexities of the child welfare system are deconstructed to reveal the trauma experienced by the disenfranchised in a broken system where employees have been known to describe themselves as powerful as god.
