Antoine Christopher Smith was born on August 1, 1992 in Euclid, Ohio. He comes from a wide range of family history in music that once indulged very heavily in local bands as musicians, singers, dancers, composers, managers, and teachers. His main influences are his father, Robert Lee Smith III, who is a bass player, lead guitarist, trumpeter and pianist. His mother, Carolyn Fuentes who is a published writer, singer, keyboardist and drummer. His grandmother who is a gospel singer. His mother's sister Patricia, who is a violinist and plays the bass and last but certainly not least his grandfather, the late Rev. B. L. Miles who was a singer, and played the rhyme guitar, organ, and piano in his church.

His grandfather gifted Antoine with a keyboard, which is to him a cherished gift.

It is no wonder this young man is so talented!

Antoine also atributes his success to his faith and is a role model to his peers.

Antoine is a drummer and a as he puts it, a ”dabbling” keyboardist that composes and plays mainly, contemporary jazz.

In addition, he composes other genres as well including music for video games.

His latest CD is "Daydream" released under the "Turn on Records" label and "Mythical" and "City in the Sea" are yet to be released.

His desire is to enter into an Audio Production and Engineering program.

Join us as we talk to this mature, focused talented young man about his life and future plans at BlogTalkRadio.com/ColoredPeople on November 19, 2009 at 7pm PST/9pm CST/10pm EST

Quwwa Davis - The Art Through His Eyes - Our Talented Member - (WIN An Original Painting!)

Quwwa Davis is the youngest of three children and is a life-long resident of Dallas, Tx. As a child, art to him was coloring books and wheels, and the most important rule was to stay within the lines to keep it neat!

Growing up as a teenager he was mostly involved in playing sports and music and in high school, visual art was more of taking some art classes and doing certain projects.

As time went by, he was able to mesh the love for different genres of music and art and his art mainly consisted of painting t-shirts and doing a few canvas projects as he pursued a career in architecture, which was short lived, as he became disenchanted with it after taking a few drafting classes.

Out of high school he decided to pursue commercial arts and go to college and major in Art History, but plans once again changed when he was approached by his English teacher who suggested he become an illustrator. As life goes, Quwwa encountered personal experiences which distracted him from art altogether and shifted his focus to life and family as he became more politically and spiritually involved.

After 14 years away from his art, in 2006, a simple pencil drawing he made of two homeless individuals rekindled a spark that he knew had never really died.

He says: "I needed something to motivate me... I have actually found a rebirth in my expression after being away from this love for 14 years. I don't regret being away from it, for I feel my art is a deep reflection of all that I have learned and felt during that time being. My maturation from a young man into a much wiser, more responsible person has allowed me express my joy, pain and struggle as a human being living in a society which seems to be losing touch with its humanity."

Quwwa says that most of his creations are dark-oriented, which gives a dark mood, but in that dark mood his intention is to face the problem head-on in order to feel the liberation of freedom. In some cases you can call his art "reverse psychology", inducing the negative to bring about the positive.

Recently he became deeply entrenched with textures, as textures to him are unpredictable, and at the same time challenging. They also allow him to play with his art, although the subject matter may be serious and at times disheartening.

"I feel this balance is sorely needed to insure that my art can be taken seriously while at the same time offer hope. After it is all said and done, I want my art to give people the opportunity to express and convey feelings that a materialistic and artificial society wants to stifle. I also want it to provoke thought and raise consciousness, and spur movement that will uplift and return mankind back to his/her God-given honorable position." ~ Quwwa Davis

Lamonte McLemore - A Perfect Composition

Lamonte McLemore is the creator of the legendary five time Grammy Award winning vocal group, The Fifth Dimension.

He was born in St. Louis, Mo. under the zodiac sign of Virgo. As one of four children, he only dreamed of playing baseball and pitching for the Cardinals was the fastest way he knew to escape the poverty.

"Maybe even try my other fascination, the art of photography... I was lucky enough early in my career to photograph models for Harper's Bazaar in Los Angeles, to shoot for Johnson's publications, Jet and Ebony, and to land a few photo assignments for Playboy Enterprises. During this time, along with a few other people on the rise, we started our own fashion magazines, Elegant and Elegant Teen. The concept was the first of its kind."

In 1960 Lamonte McLemore and Marilyn McCoo together with Fritz Baskett, Rex Middleton, Harry Elston and Lawrence Summers formed their first group "Hi-Fis". In 1964 Ray Charles took them on a tour and he produced a single by the group, "Lonesome Mood".

In 1967 the now known group The 5th Dimension, consisting of five members, Lamonte McLemore, Marilyn McCoo, Billy Davis, Jr., Ron Townson and Florence LaRue, won five Grammy Awards with the song "Up, Up and Away", a top 10 hit.

The group was inducted into the Vocal Group Hall of Fame in 2002 and in 2006 Lamonte left the group. Lamonte has written: “A Love like ours” could never be (Portrait 1970) and “The Singer” (Love's Lines Angles & Rhymes 1971)

His love for photography has been a constant in his life and he has had a 50 year freelance relationship with Jet Magazine photographing Jet Beauties. Lamonte says he always knew he wanted to be a photographer. He lived in Los Angeles for many years and in the mid 90s he wed Mieko Tone and now lives in Nevada where he has a photography studio.

He says the mystery of woman has always fascinated him. Only years of experience have taught him that the mystery is easier to enjoy than understand. He was onced asked during an interview: "After photographing so many beautiful women, what kind did he like most?"

His response? "Well, actually there are two kinds, foreign and domestic."

Join us as we welcome Lamonte McLemore to our BlogTalkRadio and talk to him about his successful career as a singer and photographer.
