Antoine Christopher Smith was born on August 1, 1992 in Euclid, Ohio. He comes from a wide range of family history in music that once indulged very heavily in local bands as musicians, singers, dancers, composers, managers, and teachers. His main influences are his father, Robert Lee Smith III, who is a bass player, lead guitarist, trumpeter and pianist. His mother, Carolyn Fuentes who is a published writer, singer, keyboardist and drummer. His grandmother who is a gospel singer. His mother's sister Patricia, who is a violinist and plays the bass and last but certainly not least his grandfather, the late Rev. B. L. Miles who was a singer, and played the rhyme guitar, organ, and piano in his church.

His grandfather gifted Antoine with a keyboard, which is to him a cherished gift.

It is no wonder this young man is so talented!

Antoine also atributes his success to his faith and is a role model to his peers.

Antoine is a drummer and a as he puts it, a ”dabbling” keyboardist that composes and plays mainly, contemporary jazz.

In addition, he composes other genres as well including music for video games.

His latest CD is "Daydream" released under the "Turn on Records" label and "Mythical" and "City in the Sea" are yet to be released.

His desire is to enter into an Audio Production and Engineering program.

Join us as we talk to this mature, focused talented young man about his life and future plans at BlogTalkRadio.com/ColoredPeople on November 19, 2009 at 7pm PST/9pm CST/10pm EST

Hassan Khan - A Chicago Legend

I had the priviledge of meeting Hassan in the mid 80's when I lived in Hollywood, California and as fate has it, our paths crossed again.

He now lives in Chicago and has been there since the late 80's, but Hassan's history goes back to the mid 60's when this master bass player, at the time in his teens, was playing with "The First Family of Soul", The Five Stairsteps, best known for their 70's song "O-o-h Child", and in the early 70's Hassan was playing with another legendary family, the gospel, soul and R&B singing group, The Staple Singers.

He was married for some years to the internationally known singer, Chaka Khan, during which time he was instrumental in developing her into the dynamic vocalist that she is today.

Throughout his career he has worked with many other notable and legendary performing artists such as Grover Washington, Jr., Eddie Kendricks, Otis Clay, Buddy Guy, Huey Lewis,  Junior Wells, Eddie Clearwater, Baby Huey and the Babysitters, and the legendary Buddy Miles, to name a few.

Hassan Khan has appeared in concert at the Madison Square Garden in New York City, performed at the 1986 Los Angeles Summer Festival, the Arie Crown Theater in Chicago, McCormick Place in Chicago, the Auditorium Theater in Chicago, the Apollo Theater in New York, the Howard Theater in Washington D.C., the University of Illinois Pavilion in Chicago, the Amphitheatre in Chicago.

In the 80's he played with Buddy Scott and the Rib Tips, Bobby Jonez and the 24 Carat Gold Band, Bobby Slim James in the Variety Show Band, Billy Branch and the Suns of the Blues and Gloria Thompson Rogers a Blues artist.

In the late 80's to early 90's Hassan was the band leader for Phil Guy and his blues band "The Chicago Machine" until Phil's passing in 2008. Now the band is called Chicago Legends and Hassan also stays busy with his Jazz band Positive Vibrations Jazz Ensemble, which was started in 2005.

Hassan will share with us his accomplishments and future projects on our BlogTalkRadio show. Tune in for this exciting show with host Tania-Maria Xavier.
