America is beautiful.
We love the amazing super bowl ad with many young women of many cultures singing America the Beautiful in many languages. Not everyone did. (Go to LunchWithLouden to see a collection of responses!)
You don't have to like Coca Cola to agree with the message of diversity and unity. And, you can love Coke and not approve of the message.
Our question: Why the disparity between the Coke message of unity and the Coke practice of using money in politics to control things like the Farm Bill, anti GMO labeling, and the legality of BPA in plastics?
The marketing department has a mission: sell more product. They know their target market is diverse and young.
They also know The People crave unity and belonging. Using our desire for that American Dream has been the Coca Cola marketing strategy for over 40 years.
Debilyn: While we appreciate the artistry of Coca Cola’s commercial...we would prefer the company lived up to it’s own projected image. How do we make it so?
Jeanene: How about we go rogue, hijack this video, make it our own, and resist the temptation to be sold?
