Tonight on The Middle Ground, our guest tonight is Ret. Col. Larry Wilkerson, former Chief of Staff to Sec. Powell who made headlines this week in his defense of former boss Ret. Gen. Colin Powell. Powell was attacked by fellow Republicans for endorsing President Obama, in some cases in racial terms.

In a recent interview on MSNBC, Wilkerson began by explaining his, and Gen. Colin Powell's endorsement of President Obama. He then goes on to say: “My party is full of racists and the real reason a considerable portion of my party wants president Obama out of the White House has nothing to do with the content of his character, nothing to do with his competence as commander in chief and President and everything to do with the color of his skin and that is despicable.”

In this episode, we ask Col. Wilkerson who he's endorsing and why. We ask him why he feels there is a race problem in the GOP. We also talk about the future of the GOP, and what fact-based Americans can do, from inside and outside of the party, to help correct its course.

The Middle Ground is hosted by Michael Charney & Eric Byler, and produced by Coffee Party USA.
