Do you know CODE? Some call it "dog-whistling". Can you explain the value of secret meanings to everyday words like "patriot", and how did "fact check" come to mean "shill?"

Aquene Fairchild from Public Citizen will start the show telling us about their DEMOCRACY IS FOR PEOPLE campaign, then we will launch into our code discussion.

In our 24/7 news cycle there are code words and talking points gallore.  Do they help or interfere with our ability to talk with one another?  Do they increase or decrease trust?

We are being sorted by professional marketers into trust-groups and tribes, where we have secret understandings and worldviews.  By sharing the same worldview, we have a basic level of trust built in. And when we don't share the worldview, how can we build a basic level of trust?

How do we see behind the curtain of code words and talking points?  How do we stop reacting to divisive messaging?  How do we change the game?

We'll serve this as the "blue plate special" today on LUNCH WITh LOUDEN.  (Do you think "blue" has meaning?  YOU must call in.)
