Can you imagine living in the beautiful sunshine state of Florida with a disease that prevents you from enjoying the sun? Oh, and how about being a teenager with swollen achy joints, rashy irritating skin and balding hair! Yes, that was the experience of my guest Nicole Paxson. Nicole Paxson is the founder and cosmetic product line creator of Nicole Paxson cosmetics.Nicole has spent over two-years perfecting her product line's formulas with the country's most experienced and cutting edge labs. Her exclusive line of remarkable cosmetics created with the highest UVA/UVB sun-protection offers maximum-coverage pudding, flawless-creme-to-powder foundation, traveling concealing stick, shine-control powder, highlighting skin bronzer, and long-lasting liquid foundation. Most importantly, Nicole ensures that each product is made with the industries most advanced ingredients and enforced by her motto, "when only perfection will do." I came across Nicole's inspirational story from while reading an article interview she conducted with Lupus Now, a magazine designed to support men and women living with the autoimmune disease Lupus. Lupus is an autoimmune disease that can affect various parts of the body, including the skin, joints, heart, lungs, blood, kidneys and brain. Normally the body's immune system makes proteins called antibodies, to protect the body against viruses, bacteria, and other foreign materials. These foreign materials are called antigens. The Lupus Foundation of America (LFA) estimates between 1.5 - 2 million Americans have a form of lupus, but the actual number may be higher. More than 90 percent of people with lupus are women. Symptoms and diagnosis occur most often when women are in their child-bearing years, between the ages of 15 and 45. In the United States, lupus is more common in African Americans, Latinos, Asians, and Native Americans than in Caucasians. Both myself and my guest Nicole Paxson has spent the majority of our diagnosed years trying to create a life of purpose and meaning for ourselves and other suffering from this debilitating disease. I am impressed with Nicole's courage and moxie to pull together her resources, experience, strength and hope to create not only a fabulous cosmetic product line that addresses the various complex needs of those living with skin conditions, but how she has taken the helm to stand out amongst the crowd by encouraging us all to keep growing and moving past our own limitations. So thank you Nicole! If you did not get a chance to listen to the show live, click here and listen to the recording. Don't forget to rate and make comments about this awesome show!
