How it all got started

You know Coach K! is a hot mess right?! For people who know me, know that I am always down for a challenge and to try something new. Well, my friend Netta had introduced me to her cousin Michael a few months ago, and since then we became really good friends. Michael and I were suppose to be a "love match" but I decided that we would work best as friends. On paper, he is the perfect man - tall, 6'4 to be exact, smooth dark chocolate skin, big brown eyes and very nice, clean hands and feet -yes, I saw his feet. He's a lawyer, just passed the bar exam in Philadelphia, has a beautiful condo and nice car. Perfect, right? Naw, not for Coach K!

Although Michael had his "stuff" together, there was one fundamental problem..he did not want children in his life on a full time basis! Now you all know that I am a mother of 3 children, and although I would like more, my own or step children, I am not willing to date anyone seriously who could not accept my children. So, I placed Mike in the friends pile.

Mike has been really helpful in helping me choose men to date lately. He has been cluing me in on some of the games men play, or when a man is serious or what have you. And with his help, I have had a whole new outlook on men and how to go about this whole "dating" business. A few weeks ago, I called Mike totally frustrated at the men that I have been dealing with, and I was looking for his advise. Mike listened to me patiently and said, "honey, you need to start focusing your efforts and drop the losers in your life!" He suggested that I take at least a month and date different types of men, just to get a feel for the type of man that would really fit with me.

I thought he was nuts at first, only men do that I thought. I am a mother! how in the hell am I going to pay for all that babysitting and not to mention the gas that it takes to fill my car!! But Mike would not let me get out of this challenge, he said that I would think of something clever, just do it!

So here I am, taking Michael up on his challenge. What I have decided to do was to use the resources that I had to see if I can hit pay dirt on the dating field. I belong to 2 black online dating sites. I won't mention which ones because they are not paying me for advertising, ha! Anyway, up until this point, I would go on the site just to chat with a few interested me, read my emails, and read their profiles. I have belonged to those sites for about 9 months, and I have only went out with 6 or 7 men. You would think that I would have had way more dates than that since I get at least 20 hits on my profile daily and out of those men I received at least 4 "smile" and 32 of those men have put me on their "favorites" list, wow, right? Well, I am the hostess with the Most-est!

But what Mike was telling me to do is to really start paying attention to the men that are trying to contact me. Read their profiles thoroughly and contact them back within 24 hours of them contacting me. If, I read their profile and they sound crazy, let them know that we would not make a good match, but if they come close, then, let them know I am interested. He suggested that i date at least 10 men within 30 days. He nor I truly believe that I will find my "perfect match" in that time, but he told me that this experiment will help open me up to a variety of men, and expose me to a variety of interests and lifestyles that I may not have considered before. So, here I am, taking my friend up on the challenge, and I am inviting you along for the ride!
