    Date / Time:

THE HIDDEN COSTS OF PERFECTIONISM with Dr. Kenneth Cole

Wow--what a treat! Dr. Kenneth Cole brought some exceptional insights to our interview today on "The Hidden Costs of Perfectionism." While Dr. Cole approaches this topic through the lens of psychology and psychotherapy, there is so much applicability for all of us and particularly those in management/leadership positions.

What are we expecting of ourselves? of our direct reports? Are our expectations reasonable and related to stated goals, or are they are own internal needs? Here is an ideal area for executive coaching. The caveat is that if the executive's perfectionism is severely maladaptive and dysfunctional, then therapy is a better alternative. However, as I said in the interview, some individuals use both therapy and coaching as tools for self improvement.

This is an interview worth listening to more than once because of the nuggets of wisdom laced throughout Dr. Cole's comments. Also, check out the reference he provided: "Perils of Perfectionism" available through ExecutiveInsights.com. I thought he said "Pearls" of Perfectionism but as we agreed, that's a whole other topic!

Again, my thanks to Ken for his skills as an interviewee as well as his psychological wisdom and ability to communicate.

My next guest is Susan Burden speaking about the impact on employers with employees struggling with aging parents.

Don't forget to order your advance copy of my new book, "Leading the Way to Success," by visiting my website: www.coachjudynelson.com. And while you're there, read a little about executive coaching and contact me to discuss whether that might be a good step for you to take.  877.yesJudy or Judy@CoachJudyNelson.com

Until next Saturday...have a great week!

    Best,

    Judy
