Award winning journalist, Cindy Morrison, joined News Channel 8 in '97. She anchors the 5pm newscast & has won an Emmy and a National Gracie Allen Award in New York City for her investigative reporting. Year after year, the Oklahoma Association of Broadcasters and the Associated Press rank her investigative work as the best in the state. For her solid work on the anchor desk, Cindy has been named a number of times as the Best TV Anchor in Tulsa at the Best of Broadcast Awards. Before coming to Tulsa, Cindy worked for nearly a decade in Oklahoma City TV. Cindy and her news team earned a Peabody for their coverage in '95 of the Oklahoma City bombing. In her career, she has also covered such news events as the 51 day cult standoff in Waco, Texas and the Free Willy/Keiko story in Iceland. Cindy was very involved with K-9 Search & Rescue after covering the Oklahoma City bombing. Cindy wanted to "do something" so she helped found Oklahoma City's first K-9 S&R team. Cindy is a member of IRE (Investigative Reporters and Editors), SPJ (Society of Professional Journalists) and AWRT (American Women in Radio and Television). In the community, she's on the Board of Directors for the Crime Commission and the Schusterman Center (OU/Tulsa). Cindy is also the spokesperson for the Safe Kids Coalition and after more than a decade of volunteer service, she's a Sustaining Member of the Junior League. In the past, Cindy served on the Steering Committee for the Governor and First Lady's Marriage Initiative and served on the local Board of Directors for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, the Center for the Physically Limited and the American Lung Association. women entrepreneurs the secrets of success
