Real talk about education and the we care movement that is coming on strong through the educational ranks.. BIO - Rehema Stephens “the EDUTAINER” Rehema Stephens was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area. She is the second eldest of five children born to Daniel and Doris Stephens, both retired educators. At a young age, Rehema learned the significance of setting goals and accomplishing them. As early as elementary school, she proclaimed to the world that she would one day play professional women’s basketball. From there, Stephens could be found perfecting her craft on the playgrounds of Oakland, California. So, it was no surprise that Rehema was a standout player from her middle school on into her professional career. She graduated from Oakland Technical High School as a High School All-American and a top college prospect in 1987. While Rehema was recruited by some of the top colleges in the country, she chose an athletic scholarship to the University of Colorado where she spent only one season before transferring to her second choice, the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA). She led the Lady Bruin basketball team in scoring from 1989 – 1992, racking up USA Today National honors of being fifth in the nation in scoring her junior year. But, all athletic accolades aside, her proudest moment was graduating with her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology. After college, Rehema began her professional basketball career that has taken her to the likes of Australia, Hungary, Switzerland, Greece, Taiwan, the Richmond Rage of the American Basketball League (ABL) and the Sacramento Monarchs of the Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA). Rehema moved directly into education after retiring from basketball. She coached and taught at both the middle school and high school levels. Later, she earned her MBA from the University of Phoenix and discovered her passion for education. Stephens is a natural born leader.
