When I reflect back on my own life and the times that I have been silent instead of speaking up when I saw things that were not right, it was because of fear. And that is what I believe has happened to the Church . Church has become so Hollywoodized and I know that is not a word, but ministry in my opinion is being portrayed as some glamorous Hollywood life and the things that ministry brings has somehow clouded our Genesis mandate and our Matthew commission. And so if I as an individual speak out against this or if we as the church speaks out about this then I the persecution will come, the attacks will come, I may loose some members, I may loose some friends and so if I don't say anything then I won't have to deal with the retaliation, the backlash; none of want to deal with those things, but the reality is, it comes with the territory if you name the name of Jesus Christ. Jesus is our greatest example! He never backed down from truth and paid the ultimate cost for it His life, but He got up and is seated at the right hand of the Father, praying for you and I when we have to stand up.
Culture will shift and change, the word tells us this and as the day nears for the return of Christ things will get worse. But we have a mandate and a commission that carries a message that has to be verbalized. We've lost our focus. It's fame and fortune seems to be driving the church; not God desires that none should perish, the harvest is plenteous the laborers are few. I love nice things but the reality is in a split second life could happen and I could be in a situation where I can't even enjoy those things. So I think we as individuals need to refocus and the body as a whole needs to refocus. No matter what we just need to keep saying what the word says so that as many as can will be saved. God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love and a sound mind.
