Educational equity is central to national efforts to fix our ailing education system and improve the performance and global competitiveness of our students. In many communities, this issue is directly connected to the debate over immigration reform. Questions like, "Should the children of undocumented parents have access to public education?" have become part of the national discourse. In this episode of CLEonair we are joined by education policy doctoral candidates Patricia Lopez and Emmanuel "Manny" Garcia from the University of Texas-Austin for a conversation about the role education policy researchers are playing in the debate over immigration reform, and to consider whether educational equity can truly be achieved without immigration reform?
