Before 1913 we printed our own money, much of it printed on hemp paper. We could go to the store and buy medicine made from cannabis, opium or drink a soft drink containing cocaine. We were not a nation of drug addicts like today. We could produce wireless electricity and our cars and Harley Davidsons (in 1913) ran on on alcohol we could buy at any farm. That all changed when the Fed started printing our money. The self sufficient family farm is the basis of every civilization. That is what tyrants and the money changers go after first!
