Continuing our "PLANTATION TO THE PEW - The Remnants & Evolution of Slavery" series we will be discussing the "love" relationship between a slave and their master, and between a church member and their Pimp Preacher Pastor. Thinking about a slaves devotion to their oppressor can be unsettling. Sometimes the slave would love and pour their hearts affection on their master's children more than their own. For some slaves, the devotion was absolute, but tragically unbalanced. How often do we witness the devotion of church folk to their pastor, without even an expectation of reciprocity? Does your pastor even know your name? Church members can serve, comfort, submit to and inve$t in their pastor, but do you always see the reverse? Certainly one can have a healthy relationship with a mature believer that pastors them through their spiritual growth. But for the Pimp Preacher; just like a "massah", they expect to be served, obeyed and loved. Tragically, their church goers LOVE them completely. But is that "real" love? How can someone truly love you, if they don't KNOW you?
