How One Responsible Leader's Calling Has Already Saved almost 800 Infants from Drowning: My Interview with Dr. Harvey Barnett, Founder of Infant Swim Resource. The life story of a calling to responsible leadership: Harvey Barnett was horrified as a teenager (and a lifeguard) by senseless infant drownings he witnessed. Young Harvey began a continuing 44-year quest to teach infants how to save themselves when they fall into the backyard pool -- and to teach parents to take responsibility to prevent infant drowning, the #1 cause of accidental death among infants. To date, 178,000 infants have been trained. There are 780 documented cases of "self rescue" and zero drownings among these students.

This show got two rocky starts. First, I pre-recorded it 4 days early as I'll be with a client in California on Tuesday. Then, speaking of responsibility, I couldn't get logged in and actually started 10 minutes late. My apologies. But it was a good show. Here are the questions I addressed:1. When I listened to your free session on the internet I was highly impressed. I would like to be guided by your Responsibility Redefined philosophy as a leader. I have been working in a bank as a project manager and sometimes it is very difficult to manage and things go out of control. What are the things that I need to take care of to be a good leader? I appreciate your contribution to this world.2. Why is the Responsibility Process so powerful a discovery? And why is it so challenging to Master?3. My company has a very individualistic culture. Many smart people working hard toward their own goals. But our collective performance is horrible. We shoot ourselves in the foot. How can Responsibility Redefined help our culture?
Please listen, rank and "favorite" the show. Subscribe to the reminder for my shows. The next Ask Christopher Avery monthly show is the 2nd Tuesday of October at Noon -- Tuesday, October 14, 2008. If you could ask me anything about how to live, lead, learn, and succeed by tapping into personal or shared responsibility -- about taking 100% ownership -- what would your specific question be? Ask it at http://www.AskChristopherAvery.com
