Genesis(meaning"beginning")was written by Moses and records the stories of Adam and Eve, Noah, Abraham, Isaac,Jacob, and Joseph, tracing the story of human history from the beginning of time to about 1700b.c. the probable time of Joseph. It is impossible, given our present knowledge ,to assign definite dates to the event's prior to Abraham, but many Bible scholars think Abraham's date is approximately 2000 to 1900b.c.
