Join us this week on Christian Devotions SPEAK UP! when host Scott McCausey interviews author, screen writer, and associate minister of media, Alex Kendrick.

Alex and his brother Stephen, who grew up shooting 8mm “chase ‘em down and shoot ‘em up” movies, helped Sherwood Baptist establish Sherwood Pictures in 2003. Fireproof is their third movie, after Flywheel and Facing the Giants. Giants played in more than 1,000 theaters after its Sept. 2006 release and grossed more than $10 million in box office receipts. The DVD has been released in 14 languages and in 56 countries—touching every continent. More than 6,500 churches have used the movie for ministry outreach. On Feb. 22, 2007, the Georgia State House of Representatives and Senate read a resolution honoring Sherwood Pictures and the church for Facing the Giants’ success and positive impact.
Alex’s awards include Family Net’s Best Promo of 1999 and Best Program of 2000. In 2004, he received seven awards for Flywheel, including best screenplay and best feature film from the Sabaoth International Film Festival in Italy and the WYSIWYG Film Festival in San Francisco. In 2006, he won Best Inspirational Video at the Creation Arts Film Festival for his short video A Salute to Veterans. In 2007, he and Sherwood Executive Pastor Jim McBride were presenters at the Dove Awards.
