I love the scriptures!!!
Joseph is in prison and yet he is a man who inspires such trust he is given the ability to oversee all of the prisoners. Do people see that the Lord blesses us in what we do? Are we trust worthy and faithful in our commitments?
Even though Joseph had been sold into slavery and cast in prison he did not get angry with the Lord. He trusted God and the faith he had been taught by his father. So when the two prisoners had dreams he responded, is not the interpretation of dreams up to God? Do we get angry with the Lord when things do not go the way we thought they were supposed to go or do we stay steady and honor the light or knowledge that we have?
Christ compares heaven to a king who had a wedding. The ones invited declined and even killed the servants sent to get them. (i.e. the house of Israel killed the prophets). He goes on though and speaks of the one who came to the wedding without the wedding garments on who was cast into outer darkness.
This makes me think that there are things that we need to do that will prepare us for the kingdom of heaven. Not that will cause us to have earned our way there but that have prepared us to be presentable there. These do not appear to be cautions that we should take lightly.
Jesus is the way the truth and the life. There is no other way. Of this I testify in his holy name, amen.
