#44 Book of Mormon for Latter-day Saint Families 2 Nephi 8:2

I love the scriptures!!! Do you ever have the Spirit of the Lord speak to you about things when you are reading the scriptures? You might have something come up to mind that is an answer to something you have been puzzled about or trying to understand. I know that I have had this happen with things that I have studied out for a life time.

These words of Isaiah that Jacob shared apply to us today as well. They speak of the atonement of Jesus Christ and of the mercy and grace of God upon each of us. How death has taken us and we would be lost permanently, except for God's grace. That means a gift given that is not earned. We have done nothing and could nothing to earn God's grace. But once we know and accept it and truly receive it we cannot help but be filled with his love and want to extend that to others. What is that? Why, an understanding of the plan of salvation and redemption through the atonement. To do this without adhering to the teachings of Jesus Christ and following the commandments would be a fraud. So to say that we can partake in the atonement without action that leads us to be more like Christ is simply FALSE. May we seek to remember Christ in all we do and listen to the still small voice that will guide us, if we will let it. In Jesus name, amen.
